Enjoy the gorgeous mountain landscapes directly from Lake Hallstatt itself. Explore the lake on your own accord by way of a pedal or electric boat or allow yourself to be rowed across Lake Hallstatt in a traditional wooden boat known as a ‘Plätte’.

Hiking
Hallstatt is the starting point for 40 hiking destinations in the Dachstein Region. From mountain meadows and summits of 2000 metres, hikers will enjoy amazing vistas. Hiking trails are well-marked by the Alpine Association and are accessible by any well-equipped hiker.
Mountain Biking
There are over 300 km of forest service roads available for mountain biking throughout the Salzkammergut. From easy stretches for beginners to challenging courses for professionals, there is something for everyone—no desire goes unfulfilled.
Bike Arena Obertraun
Located in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut, with it's more than 1,500 km of designated mountain bike trails, the National Sports and Recreation Centre in Obertraun offers mountain bikers a special facilty with it's Bike Arena. In the immediate vicinity of an infrastructure tailored for athletes and sports enthusiasts, is a cross country track of international caliber which is available for amateurs and professionals throughout the year. Whether as a day trip, technique training or international competition; this sports venue, which is unique in Austria and Central Europe, offers technically challenging and demanding sections for all active athletes. - True to the motto: The Trail is the Adventure.
Paragliding
Paragliding is available from the Krippenstein Mountain (2100 metres) in Obertraun. In 1999 the Austrian National Championships in Paragliding were held on the Krippenstein with great success. The amazing flight region offers fantastic panorama views.
